Tennesee...boooo!

Here's a little summary of my trip to TN:

Dinner in Chattanooga with lobster bisque - yummy and fun.
Walk around Lookout Mountain and learning about the Civil War - pretty cool.
Being attacked by my dad and aunt and having them tell me I am being manipulated by my mother - shitty.
Justin graduating - excellent.
Tour of the Jack Daniel's distillery - the best. (Did you know his real name was Jasper, he was 5'2" and he died of gangrene from kicking a safe that wouldn't open?)
Relations with my family for 3 days - strained and crappy, many tears involved.
So, I'm glad to be back.

Tennessee...wee!!

So I'm leaving tomorrow for good ol' Tennessee...at 6:40 AM (boooo!). My brother is graduating on Saturday and then leavning TN to live with his 36 year old boyfriend in Southern California. Did I mention my brother is 18? Hmmm...
My mom is coming, along with my dad, his sister and mom. My dad's side of the family is currently feuding with my mother and I'm pretty much caught in the middle. It's a huge mess and I'm NOT looking forward to any of this. I'll just have to bring lots of books and keep my nose buried in them. Or I can bring my anatomy text and use the excuse that I have to study. Ick. I wish Drake could go with me and be a buffer, but...c'est la vie!

Urine, Whales and Shoes

Back in the library studying for a test I have Monday. It's on the urinary system, water/electrolyte/pH balances, and metabolism. I really don't spend that much time here..it only seems like it because when I get bored with studying I write a blog to pass the time. Aren't you glad??!!
Yesterday before coming here I got the cutest shoes at Nordstrom Rack. They're cream colored sandals with a flower on each. Not sure what to wear them with though...crap. They're probably one of my first pairs of non-black shoes...since black goes with just about anything. Sex and the City watching on Friday night inspired me to branch out.
Watched Whale Rider this morning. It was wonderful! Loved it!! Now I'm maybe even looking forward a bit to when my dad lives in New Zealand and I get to visit him and see all that beautiful scenery - and ride some whales.
Off to start the metabolism chapter.

It's kind of eerie how quiet it gets around the office on a Friday afternoon. Everyone just kinda slips out early. I was going to, and then I realized I couldn't walk, and now I don't really want to get out of my chair.
On the plus side, salad rolls and peanut butter Kudos are good. Not together or necessarily in that order.

Knee News

Soooooo, I had an MRI yesterday at 7 AM (blehh) and got the results 2 hours later. My meniscus has partially healed, but most of it has retorn. So, I have to have surgery again. I guess the good news is that I don't have to be in a huge brace and on crutches for a month again, but it's still surgery and it's still crappy.
Work has been insane today. I somehow took over this one study for someone who doesn't work here anymore, and a monitor came to look over all the books and I'm stuck with correcting all the mistakes the other girl made. It's very frustating...looking through patients charts and trying to read doctor handwriting. Ughhh.
Other than that, things are SUPER!!!

So tired!
Mom was here for the weekend to celebrate Mother's Day with me and other family who lives out here. It was all pretty good, though I ate way too much. She had a mini break-down Sunday and I'm totally emotionally drained today. Have Justin's graduation in TN in a couple weeks and I'm not sure if I want to go. He's being a jerk, being mean to Mom. She probably won't go because he doesn't even want her there. It's a freaking mess and it all gets dumped on me. On the plus side, Mom got me an early b-day present - an awesome coffee table!!! It's mahogany stained and Asian-inspired. Sweeeeet.
Drake gave me a hickey on Saturday night. I got mad at him...we've been together for over 3 years and I think this is the first hickey I've gotten - the weekend my mom is here!!! I had to wear my sleeveless turtleneck thing to brunch...and again today to work. I've got to start getting creative. It's huge!!!
Simpsons last night was awesome.
Gotta get back to work! :)

Crap.

I totally fucked my knee again. The knee I had surgery on in October, that the doctor supposedly fixed, but I was never convinced. It just started hurting over the weekend, and now I can barely walk and it's the size of a grapefruit. I need to talk to someone about malpractice suits. Crap crap crap!!
On the upside, Drake took me paddling in the canoe! It was awesome. I think I'm a natural born paddler. If I do it on a regular basis I'll be totally yoked. Plus I got my first sunburn of the spring/summer. We saw lots of Canadian geese and a blue heron, paddled by some house boats, etc. It was sweet.
Anyway, I need to go elevate my knee and overdose on Advil.
