The B- Heard 'Round the World

I got a B-!!!! Yayyyyyyyyy!!!!! Normally, the minus would upset me, but everyone I've talked to who has taken this class has gotten a C. So that's pretty awesome.
Drake and I watched The Virgin Suicides last night. It was OK...I bet the book is better.
Also, I got a B-.

I'm boring!

It's been a couple days...I guess I just have nothing to top meeting Matt Groening.
Weekend was nice...I didn't have lab on Saturday!! And I never will again!!! I signed up for a Thursday lab, and that starts up again on April 1. I find out my grade for this quarter tomorrow. I'm scared!!
So I've decided that I'm going to nursing school in Hawaii. Wouldn't that be awesome? Go to class, go swimming, go to class, go snorkeling, go to class, lay on the beach, go to class, drink a mai tai. Yeah dog. Yeah.
My friends Heather and Todd just got back from Hawaii. They got married over there on the beach at sunset. She just showed me pictures...they're so awesome! :) She brought us back some chocolate-covered macadamia nuts shaped like boobs...not on purpose..but they're just stuck together and look boobish. Yay!
So, now I have to go get stamps so I can mail my "delinquent" medical bill from when I had my knee surgery in October. Oops. I'm a bad bill payer. Crap.

Oh my god...

I met Matt Groening last night!!!!
Here's the story:
Drake and I went to the lecture featuring Lynda Barry and Matt Groening. They've been best friends for 30 years and went to Evergreen College up in WA. Matt grew up in Portland, so I guess he wanted to speak in his hometown. Anywho, the lecture was awesome. Lynda Barry was great and I would suggest looking in to some of her books. Matt was great...he even showed like 10 minutes of clips of his favorite Simpsons moments, a French Simpsons commercial for laundry detergent, and a 10 minute clip of a never-before aired episode! And then, when it was over, I stormed the stage, but he had already gone backstage. But he came back out! And this little kid next to me was like "Matt! Can I have your autograph?" And Matt said, "Well I really can't because if I give you one then I'll have to give everyone one and there will be a huge line." So the kid just settled for a handshake and walked away. Then Matt felt bad and was like, "Where'd that kid go?" and started signing a piece of paper. Then he drew Homer, signed it and said to Drake, "This is for you." It was SO COOL. Then, he was like "Give me your poster," to me (since I had my huge Simpsons poster), and he took it backstage and drew Bart saying "Hi Kristen!" and signed it!! And I shook his hand!! And he gave me his Sharpie!!! I'm not sure why. But it was great and he was nice and it was awesome and we were like the only people who got autographs!
Wow. OK...I'm so happy. Yay!

March Madness

Have I ever cared about March Madness and the NCAA? No. But ante up $2, fill out a bracket with no knowledge of the teams whatsoever, and I'm succumbing to the madness! The madness has taken hold of me!! Texas Tech and Manhattan have won so far, which I predicted. 2 points for me!! UTEP better not fuck up in the last minute of this game..but they will. No point for me on that one. I think I have a gambling problem.

Matt Groening day!!!

It's like Rex Manning day from Empire Records...but with Matt Groening...and in real life.
I volunteered last night (www.dovelewis.org) and one of the gals who works there brought her dog in and we watched him while she gave a tour of the clinic. His name is Lion and he's 13 years old and part Rhodesian Ridgeback and part something else. He was really cute and had separation anxiety because his first owner left him when he was about 6 years old. But we gave him treats and lavished him with affection and he was fine. I need a dog!! I need like 10 dogs!! And 5 cats!!! Geckos don't cuddle all that well...but I do love Isabella.
Anyway...Matt Groening day!! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

My Cat's Breath Smells Like Catfood

Oh my god. So, I just called the place where I'm going to see Matt Groening tomorrow, because my ticket said general admission and I wasn't sure if all the tickets were general admission or what. So the lady said there are going to be some reserved seats in the very front, but other than that it's all general seating. So I'm going to be extra dorky and get there really early so I can sit up front and then meet him!! I'm so excited!!! I feel really nerdy swooning over Matt Groening though. :)

Happy St. Patty's!!

I didn't have anything green AND work-appropriate, but I am wearing a green post-it on my shirt, so don't even think about pinching me.
Drake and I watched The Right Stuff last night. Initially I was disappointed that it wasn't a New Kids on the Block documentary, but it turned out to be pretty educational. And I sure enjoyed the part where Alan Shepard peed his space suit.
Anywho, I'm boring. I think that's the most exciting news I have. Except, my boss is on vacation for a week and a half starting today. Weeee! Man I need some coffee cake.

mmmmm burrrrito

I just got the most unassuming little burrito downstairs on the 3rd floor, but I have to say it's one of the best burritos I've had in a while!!
So, I had this dream the other night that I was in Hawaii (I seem to have those a lot), and my friend Matt was with me and I think we were riding bikes. Then this storm was passing through and we went under this bridge for safety, but then the bridge blew away. That's all I remember. But that got me wondering if I'm ever randomly in peoples' dreams. And then I remembered that I was in my friend Lorrie's dream a couple weeks ago and I was friends with Charlize Theron, and then Charlize kissed Lorrie....awesome.

OK, I don't even want to talk about my final, which was last night. Maybe a little...it went just OK. JUST OK!! No matter how hard I study, I can't master anatomy and physiology. And I got a 66 out of 80 on my lab final. Bleh.
Anyway, here's something I decided I think is hilarious over the weekend:
when people (or animals or robots) in cartoons are denoted as poor by wearing a barrell with suspenders.
I've been watching a lot of Futurama episodes with the commentary turned on, and I've decided that I really wish I was friends with David Cohen, Matt Groening, John DiMaggio and Billy West. Dorky, yes, I know. But I get to see Matt Groening speak on Thursday and I'm SUPER excited!!!!! Hopefully I'll get to meet him and gush a little and have him sign my big yellow Simpsons poster. Yayyyy!!!

I'm losing my mind and my hand hurts. Who knew the immune system was so complicated?
Who were the first people to figure this stuff out? It's really amazing to me, but it's making me crazy. I think the wearing-off of my ADD medication isn't helping either. I just started reading Prozac Nation, and the author was talking about how she doesn't want to be a person on drugs for the rest of her life just to be normal. I've definitely been feeling like that...Dexedrine plus an anti-depressant just to stabilize me. I mean, I'm not crazy or suicidal or anything like that!!! Yeah...this is a good way to portray myself to strangers. Hm. Well, I'm normal. You wouldn't even know I was on meds unless I told you. Which I just did. Apparently my birth mother is bipolar, and she has her own children now who are exhibiting signs of depression. So I guess I have her to thank.
Anywho, I think I've been here for almost 3 hours. Maybe I should just leave and eat a Gardenburger or go shopping or put a hat down on the sidewalk and do some jigs...ANYTHING but study anymore!! How am I going to take a final on Monday night? I've only been out of college for for like 10 months and I already forgot how to study for finals.
Oh, P.S. my teacher is Professor Hayteas..pronounced Hades...and it's quite appropriate.

Oh my god. I'm a "blogger." I'm so hip. Or am I so nerdy? It's a fine line I think. So, I have to thank Kathleen Galvan for the inspiration to blog my free time away. Reading her blog was like a freaking soap opera! I thought, maybe if I typed out what happened during MY day, and my inner-most thoughts and feelings, maybe I would sound interesting, too. So, for your sake, I hope I will.
Today started with Anatomy & Physiology lab at 9. It was our last one and we had an 80 question test. It was intense but I think I did pretty well. I did have a moment where I stepped back and wondered, is it weird that I've practically got my nose inside a dead cat so I can tell if that's a left subclavian artery or a brachiocephalic artery? But then I had to move on to the next station and identify another pinned structure in some cow's heart.
So now I'm at the library where I work. I work at OHSU (Oregon Health & Science University). So, I'm surrounded by med students who are probably studying stuff that is super mchard and I'm taking a break from studying for my A&P final, which is on Monday. Drake is in Sun River with some friends so I'm all alone this weekend. Thank GOD I have Futurama and Sex and the City episodes to keep me sane.
Alright...back to lymphocytes and inflammation and stuff.
